Childhood Financial Trauma with Dr. Fanike

Financial trauma is very similar to general trauma, but it specifically deals with our financial mindset, the way that we respond to money, and our relationship with money.

In the latest episode of The Universe Is Your Therapist, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Fanike, a licensed trauma therapist that specializes in financial trauma, and WOW, this episode just reminds me that the way we were raised to think about and interact with money affects us deeply.

Like all of my interviews, I want you to get the fullest from my conversation. So, find a quiet and cozy spot, put on your favorite fuzzy socks and take a listen to episode 41 of the Universe Is Your Therapist Podcast with special guest Dr. Fanike.

I loved talking to Dr. Fanike, and the takeaway that really stuck with me is the encouragement she gives us to be transparent about our finances with those that we live with. Whether it's our partner or our children, have those conversations early and often and use terms like “budget” as opposed to terms that are more scarcity oriented.

If you are unsure if you have financial trauma, or any trauma for that matter, I encourage you to take our quiz, Do I Have Trauma?
